In a heartfelt ceremony earlier this week, the Tribune Trust awarded a generous £2,000 grant to Hull Women's Aid, a charity dedicated to supporting women and children affected by domestic abuse. The funds, presented by Chris Henson, the High Sheriff of Hull and East Yorkshire, will be used to purchase sensory equipment and outdoor toys for children residing in the refuge. The donation aims to support the emotional and physical recovery of these vulnerable children, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment where they can heal, play, and regain a sense of security. The sensory equipment, valued at £1,300, and outdoor toys costing £700, will help children with additional needs, including sensory sensitivities, to engage in therapeutic play and physical activity, which is vital for their development and recovery. The grant will benefit around 72 children each year, ensuring that the refuge can meet the growing needs of these young individuals.
