Neighbourhood Network recieve a boost from The High Sheriff Chris Henson.

06/10/2024

Lucy Carew & Sarah Weichardt told me how the money will be used. We are incredibly grateful for the £1,000 cheque presented by High Sheriff Chris Henson, which will go towards supporting the activities of the Neighbourhood Network. This grant will enable us to strengthen our efforts to promote good citizenship, foster safer communities, and reduce crime and disorder through various initiatives. A portion of the funds will be allocated to providing new Neighbourhood Watch groups with essential resources such as signs, stickers, and newsletters. These materials will help unite local residents by encouraging them to work together in promoting safety and reducing crime in their neighbourhoods. The grant will also support the first HU7 Youth Summit, aimed at engaging young people on the verge of criminal involvement. By participating in activities provided by youth organizations and community stakeholders at the summit, young people will be encouraged to explore new sports and recreation opportunities. The goal is to offer them a positive outlet for their energy, reducing their likelihood of engaging in anti-social behaviour (ASB) on the estate. By promoting community participation and awareness through Neighbourhood Watch, we anticipate a stronger, more connected community that actively works together to create a safer environment. The visible presence of Neighbourhood Watch signs and engaged residents is expected to deter crime and disorder in the areas served by the initiative. The HU7 Youth Summit is designed to offer young people alternatives to anti-social behaviour. By engaging in positive activities, they will be less likely to cause disruption in their community, helping to protect potential victims and reduce crime rates. The £1,000 grant will make a significant impact on our efforts to promote community safety and engage local youth. We are confident that this funding will contribute to a safer, more unified community and help prevent crime and anti-social behaviour.
