On Wednesday 2nd July 2025, the Hull KR Foundation had the honour of welcoming Michael Rice, the High Sheriff of Hull and East Riding, to our community centre at Sewell Group Craven Park. The visit marked a proud moment in the Foundation’s ongoing journey to support young people and communities across East Hull. As part of this inspiring occasion, we were delighted to receive a £3,000 grant from the Tribune Trust towards our application for funding to support the modernisation of our community centre. This generous contribution brings us a step closer to realising our goal of creating a dynamic, youth-led space that can provide safe, inclusive, and engaging opportunities for young people in the local area. Transforming Spaces, Changing Lives The Hull KR Foundation exists to empower individuals within our community to reach their full potential. Through programmes focused on employability, health and wellbeing, community engagement, and physical activity, we are committed to helping people become the best they can be. The latest initiative aims to refurbish and modernise our community centre, which will serve as a hub for young people across East Hull. With many youth centres having closed in recent years, this project will fill a crucial gap by offering a welcoming environment where young people can connect, learn, and thrive. The funding will contribute to new equipment and decoration, with a unique twist: the renovation will be led and carried out by young people themselves. This hands-on involvement will ensure that the space is not only practical but also resonates with the needs and interests of the youth who will use it. Our Vision for a Better Tomorrow The project's objectives include: Creating a modern, inclusive, and youth-friendly community centre. Delivering youth-informed programmes that promote citizenship, responsibility, and personal growth. Integrating with our on-site community 3G pitch to promote teamwork, fitness, and healthy living. Reducing crime and antisocial behaviour by offering positive, structured alternatives and engaging young people in meaningful activities. The ultimate aim is to impact the lives of over 150 young people annually—giving them a space to develop, connect, and contribute positively to their community. A Word of Thanks Paul Hamnett said "We extend our deepest gratitude to Michael Rice, the High Sheriff of Hull and East Riding, for his support and visit. His engagement underscores the importance of this work and highlights the power of collaboration in building stronger, safer communities. We also thank the Tribune Trust for their generous £3,000 grant, which has already begun to energise our plans and empower the next generation of Hull’s young citizens.
