The Peel Project

21/02/2022

Out of tragic circumstances a Community has pulled together and organised itself to look after each other and it's young people, regardless of colour or creed or ethnicity. This Organisation, assisted by the Police and Hull City Council exists to carry out activities which benefit the Community and in particular (without limitation) to the black and ethnic minority communities in Hull. Their aim is to improve the well being, health and conditions of life for children and young people, who have need of such. They seek to provide positive and constructive opportunities that would not normally be available for children and young people to express themselves and to give a voice to the communities that they represent. They improve confidence, self-esteem and emotional resilience of children and young people through the participation in workshops, projects, sports and outdoor activities. Their activities are not confined to those for children and young people. They organise activities for Adults and run a clothing exchange. The Tribune Trust are delighted to award this wonderful Project a grant of £3,000 to enable them to run jiu jitsu courses for the young people of the Spring Bank area of Hull. On Thursday the 17th of February, 2022, the High Sheriff of the East Riding of Yorkshire visited the Project and met with the Project Organisers and their local PC Danny Fleming. The photographs show the High Sheriff presenting the Tribune Trust Cheque to Jamal Choudhury, Salem Ali and Sarah at the Peel Street Park
