City of Hull Street Angels

02/08/2019

The Street Angels are all volunteers and they give up their time to make sure people using the night-time economy in Hull are safe. They work in teams of two on a Friday and Saturday night from 9pm until 3am. All of the volunteers receive training, which includes basic first aid.

The Street Angels provide water and flip flops, a listening ear to those who need help and they will escort vulnerable people to the taxi rank to ensure that they can get home safely.

The Street Angels provide first aid and if they are unable to provide sufficient care to a person they will contact the emergency services and remain with the person until the emergency services arrive.

The Street Angela are out on the streets because they care about the well-being of people and they want to ensure that people who are out in Hull for an enjoyable night out can end their night safely.

The people that the Street Angels help are often vulnerable and the majority of them are either in distress, suffering from mental health issues or under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The Tribune Trust is therefore pleased to be able to support the City Of Hull Street Angels to carry out their valuable work.

Sue Stephenson, the High Sheriff of the East Riding of Yorkshire, is shown presenting a cheque to Pat Hutchinson and Gaynor Bonner, who are two of the City of Hull Street Angel volunteers.
