West Marsh Kids Club

10/01/2020

The aim of the Club is to provide a safe place for children, young people and their families to engage in positive activities; to build appropriate, trusting relationships with the wider community and to increase members’ social skills and aspirations. The club has been running for two years and started as a small craft club. It has since evolved into a group where young people can participate in craft, football and a range of team building activities. The group is currently run collaboratively between the Police Early Intervention Team and practitioners from the local Family Hub.

The Tribune Trust is pleased to be able to support the Kids Club in providing a more varied activity timetable. The grant will enable the Kids Club to provide members with materials for craft activities, board games, outdoor games and team building games. There is a particular interest in football and the funding would also be used to buy new footballs, bibs and training equipment.

The young people who attend the Kids Club have the opportunity to develop creative skills, social skills and to attend at a Centre, which will build their links with the community. Whilst the children and young people are attending the Kids Club they are not engaging in anti-social behaviour and they receive encouragement to make positive choices in regards to their lifestyle and behaviour.

The Chairman of the Tribune Trust, Julie Good, is shown presenting a cheque to one of the members, Charlie Rimmer, who is supported by organisers from the Kids Club.
