£7,000 Grant Supports Humberside Police Night Challenge for Young People

Humberside Police has been awarded a £7,000 grant from the Tribune Trust to support its Night Challenge programme, designed to create positive engagement with young people and help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.

The funding was presented by Mike Rice, with Katie Hardy, Community Engagement Coordinator for Humberside Police, attending as spokesperson. The Night Challenge event will take place at Raywell Scout Camp and will invite around 150 young people to take part in an overnight challenge covering a 14-mile route in the surrounding area.

The event brings together Humberside Police and a wide range of partner organisations to work directly with young people, particularly those from vulnerable or seldom-heard communities. Participants will complete a series of challenges focused on key issues such as arson, hate crime and anti-social behaviour, alongside activities that build teamwork, communication and outdoor skills.

Through interactive scenarios, including a courtroom-style exercise, young people will gain a greater understanding of the impact and consequences of crime, while developing confidence and positive relationships with organisations that help keep local communities safe.

The Night Challenge is expected to benefit more than 150 young people directly, with the learning and experiences gained having a wider positive impact across local communities.
