Kingswood United CIO Receives £2,500 Grant to Support Young People in Hull

Kingswood United CIO has been awarded a £2,500 grant from the Tribune Trust to help continue and expand its vital work within the local community. The award was presented by Mike Rice, High Sheriff of Hull and the East Riding, recognising the charity’s commitment to supporting children, young people and adults through sport and community engagement.

Based in Hull’s North Carr Ward—an area ranked among the most socially deprived in the country—Kingswood United works to promote active lifestyles while supporting physical and mental health. The organisation also provides guidance and positive opportunities for young people, helping to reduce anti-social behaviour and raise aspirations.

The funding will be used to deliver weekly sport and social sessions at Kingswood United’s site on Kinloss Garth, Noddle Hill. These supervised two-hour sessions will offer a safe environment where young people can take part in a range of sports, socialise with peers, and access support from trained staff and volunteers, all of whom are Youth Mental Health First Aid trained.

Paul Richardson, Kingswood United CIO chairman and club founder, said: “This funding will make a real difference to young people in our community. It allows us to provide a safe, positive space where children can be active, build confidence and talk to trusted adults. We’re extremely grateful to the Tribune Trust for recognising the importance of this work.”

With few supervised spaces available locally, the sessions will give young people a positive alternative after school, helping them feel part of the community while staying active and supported.
