Beverley Pan Disability Football Team

08/02/2019

The football team is inclusive of all disabilities and welcomes children aged between 5 and 18 years. The aim of the club is to give the most vulnerable in society an opportunity to participate in sport without the pressure of having to compete for a place in a team.

The children at the club, through sport, are educated in terms of good citizenship. They are taught how to help each other regardless of their ability or disability. They receive information on how to keep safe and the dangers and consequences of substance misuse. The coaches ensure that each child is fully included in the activity throughout their time spent at the club. Each child receives individual and tailored attention so that they can be physically challenged and supported.

The club has been running for 7 years. The primary aims of the club are to assist the children in improving their communication skills, improve their fitness and wellbeing and develop their social skills through inclusion in the group.

The club has a membership of 50 young people and 20 members regularly turn up for each of the weekly sessions. Members reside in Hull and throughout the East Riding of Yorkshire.

The Club are in dire need of new equipment as their current equipment is old and becoming worn out. The Tribune Trust are very pleased to be able support the football team by helping them to purchase new equipment.

Debbie Rosenberg, the High Sheriff of the East Riding of Yorkshire, is shown presenting a cheque to the head coach Paul Adamson and his team.
